Dion (Formerly known Malathria) is a large settlement in the prefecture of Pieria with 1,336 inhabitants (apogr. 2001) and belongs to the homonymous municipality (Municipality of Dion). Located at an altitude of 30 meters, the ruins of ancient Dion, 15 kilometers south of Katerini. It is capital of the department of the Municipality of Dion.
